13 Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love.

FASTING

♪♥WATCH AND PRAY

Brother Gordon Lindsey, a wonderful man of GOD, has written many Spiritually beneficial books and is the Founder of Christ for The Nations of Dallas, TX.

“We believe that there is a great truth in prayer and fasting, since Jesus, when
speaking of the devil in the lunatic child, whom the disciples could not heal,
declared, ‘This kind cometh not out but by prayer and fasting.’ We do realize
that fasting to be seen of men for self-aggrandizement is futile and profitless.
But fasting with prayer has a place, as the Scriptures plainly teach. We know of
no writer whom God has so signally used to bring out Scriptural truth on
fasting, as Evangelist Franklin Hall. We feel that ‘Atomic Power with God’ is
the book of the hour for believers. We trust that this book will be a special
help to those whose prayers, for one reason or another, have not been answered.

“Many of the associates of ‘The Voice of Healing’ magazine, like me, feel that
fasting and prayer should have an important place in a successful
salvation-healing ministry.”

Brother Gordon Lindsay           Shreveport, La

Just one more testimony to GOD's Great Blessings being poured out in answer to prayer and fasting:

BOY EVANGELIST

Little David was born in Phoenix, Arizona, Sept. 20, 1934. He sang his first
song at two years of age. He prayed his first prayer at three years of age! At
five Little David was about to go blind. He went on a three-day fast with
prayer, going into the woods with some other little boys to pray. Satan talked
to him and tried to discourage him the first day, but he kept praying and
fasting. On the third day he went into the woods again and his prayer became
more intense; the fast became prayer too. The windows of heaven opened and he
received the Holy Spirit after the Bible pattern, and instantly he was
completely healed and came home shouting! At the age of six he had another
wonderful experience. At seven he was injured by a taxicab and again healed in
answer to prayer. At nine years of age he was called to preach. At that age his
spirit left the body and for five hours Little David was in heaven; a great
light flashed in front of him, and he was called into the ministry. “Jesustold
me to go, open my mouth, and He would fill it. I also received knowledge of many
things that are going to come to pass,” stated Little David.

There is much more to this remarkable story of Little David than appears on the
surface. Let us go back before he was born. Little David’s father, Brother Jack
Walker, was not seeing souls saved; he became heavily burdened, crying out to
God almost night and day, and still he was not satisfied. Then he undertook a
fast in almost ceaseless agony and prayer for lost men and women. He received,
from the somber heavens above, a ray of hope, although he did not know what it
was all about. This much he did know, and that was that God had answered his
prayer. He felt that victory was his without a shadow of doubt. His fast and
prayer lasted for fourteen days. Immediately at the conclusion of this fast, a
soul was given to the parents, and nine months later his son David was born.
This child evangelist was to do more than his father could ever do, and was very
definitely given in answer to most fervent prayers and FASTING.

Most significantly of all, though, is OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST's teaching us, that they who would fast to their FATHER in secret, GOD would reward them openly!

I HIGHLY DOUBT that one could in any way fast with an 'unworthy reason' unto THE LORD GOD.

Knowing that you are praying and fasting unto THE SACRED AND HOLY ALMIGHTY CREATOR of the Universe, and sin can in no wise enter into HIS HOLY PRESENCE...

fasting for sinful reasons could only be ....what? to sin more? to have something that you could use for sinning?

I do much more highly esteem my dear readers than to imagine any would be thinking of doing that.

FASTING is a type of  'killing off the lusts of the flesh' and if that were the only benefit, I SAY BRING IT ON!!!

However, JESUS said, "GOD will reward them openly".

And GOD does.

EVERYONE WHO EVER FASTED

FASTED TO RECIEVE SOMETHING FROM GOD

MOSES fasted for GOD to spare the Israelites from destruction after their heinous sins in the wilderness.

JESUS fasted because HE was led by the Spirit to do so. HE also fasted to have victory over the demons who wouldn't come out any other way.

ELIJAH fasted for GOD to hear his prayers.

DANIEL fasted to HEAR GOD's counsel.

FAST ...

FAST for a reason, or FAST just because GOD is leading you to do so,

either way

FAST

and GOD will reward you openly.

Last year, since we fasted most of the time, (yes, there were times when we broke the fast) we really didn't have a Special reason in mind. Yet all the BLESSINGS I told of in yesterday's post and even more were poured out upon us.

Then, there were other times, when there would be "needs" and these would be the focus of our prayers and fastings for that day, or for a few days at a time.

Once such time was when my daughter was going through MCAT testing.

Another was when another daughter was following occult teachings...not actually doing anything, but reading and watching those types of movies alot...and being hateful toward us, so much so, we were very concerned for her salvation.

Both those things GOD has totally given the victory in - much more than we could have thought HE would do.

Michelle is in her first semester now at Med School.

and Sabrina is the Most Anointed RA on her campus.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just wanted to show the continual victory we lived in while we were continuously fasting.
Because I can't help but notice we are NOT LIVING in continual victory this year.
1) Last year we never missed a service. Sunday morning and evening, and Wednesday night prayer.
2) My husband has been out of work for months at a time this year
3) My daughter hasneeded braces, and we cannot afford to get them for her
4) No sicknesses bad enough to have to go to the Doctor for,Hallelujah, however, my husband did have much problems with poisonous plants when he cut the lawn. He suffered with itchy rashes over much of his body.
5) We have had a few horrible fights - or what is it that "christians" call it when they fight with their spouses?....  times of  Intense fellowship
6) We have known worry in wheter we would have enough money to pay the bills or not.  (not known lack in that area, NO, but we have worried now and then.)
7) Our kitchen is almost bare. We still have things to eat everyday. But it is ... whatever there is, that is what we MUST eat. (and GOD is so good. It's never anything vile, but we have not the over-abundance that we had known last year.)
The only thing I am trying to say is, I have tried FASTING, and have tasted of GOD's Great GOODNESS in BLESSING us in answer to fasting.
and I have lived without fasting.
I CHOOSE THE FASTED LIFE!
And to absolutely everyone, I reccommend FASTING.
Why?
Because I would love to see GOD Reward you!
To All the Dear Faithful Readers,
You will remember last year we (my children and I) experienced the blessings of a continuous fast before FATHER GOD.
Fasting one meal a day continuously.
The goal is for extended fasts, however, as a beginning, this was GOD's Blessing to us.
My children and I fasted from supper until noon the next day. This being more than 12 hours a day, could be counted as 1/2 a day. However, we counted it as only 1/3, since we only missed one meal.
Beginning the days honoring GOD with HIS TITHE of our time also saw much blessing.
Some of the BLESSINGS we have seen:
1) a rebellious daughter has been changed into the most angelic and loving Christian. This was more than worth all the hunger pangs.
2) our family purchased a new big beautiful home with a huge, grassy, and fenced yard that came with so many amenities each time you turned a corner, you'd see another reason to Praise THE LORD!- this was a complete miracle. I really should give the details some day.  (we had been living in a 2 bedroom trailer)
3) our house was filled with food - the times we did eat, we could choose from many tasty things- whatever our hearts desired. (this I'm afraid, we may have taken for granted).
4) not one of our immediate family members is/was sick at all last year. I really can't remember going to the doctor not once in the past year. Hallelujah! Yes, please help me Thank HIM for HIS goodness to us.
5) 3 of my dearest relatives went home to be with THE LORD ...my dear Granny Gert, who always prayed for all the family before she went to sleep at night...my beloved Uncle Tommy who was just a kid (teenager) when he went off to Vietnam, I was only 5 was entirely clueless what that meant- I remember when he came to visit and say "See you after the war is over" that my sister Tina (7 at the time) and I agreed he was the most handsome of all our uncles, and Aunt Louise, my mother's older sister, she was the closest of all my aunts and uncles to us, we could talk for hours on the phone always about Our LORD.
6) our gross reciepts in Conrado's business more than tripled-quadrupled... I don't even know how to say how well they did. (That was just the gross reciepts, however. =P After all the business expenditures we still did comfortably well. Meaning we never worried once was there enough to pay the bills, just paid them as they came up).
7) WE WERE DELIVERED FROM CREDIT CARD DEBTS! I was about to say all debts, but there are a few small things we still need to pay off here and there. Which I trust in THE LORD we will very soon be able to give that testimony as well. (Including paying off this house!)
~~~~~~~~~~~

So, why am I expounding on the great blessings of fasting?

2-fold reason:

   1- To inspire anyone/everyone I can whom GOD has been calling to a fast that there is absolutely nothing but BLESSINGS awaiting your obedience to HIM in this area.

  2- Tomorrow's story.

GOD Speaks to All Who Wish to Do HIS Will

For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it

 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightful land, saith the LORD of hosts.

 Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?

 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

 And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.

 Then they that feared the LORD spoke often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Heidi_Baker's_Uncomfortable_Message_to_America

Heidi Baker is challenging the American church to reject superstar Christianity and return to the simplicity of the gospel.

August 11, 2006

 American missionary Heidi Baker is not a normal preacher. When she spoke at a conference last week in  Ohio, she delivered half of her sermon while lying on the floor. She was clutching the microphone while her forehead was resting on the carpet.

 “I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,” she said, quoting Philippians 3:8. She interrupted her message several times with the high-pitched giggling that has become her trademark.

 This was not your average, seeker-sensitive sermon.

 “Baker’s message made me uncomfortable, but the squirming was all worth it.”

 A petite, 46-year-old blonde, Baker told the crowd at the Encounters Network conference in Cincinnati that those who want to be used by God in powerful ways must learn to relinquish power. She said: “God told me once, ‘I want you to come up to the lowest place.’”

 Baker easily could have positioned herself as a Christian superstar. Fluent in several languages, she is a gifted communicator with advanced educational degrees. She also has seen astounding miracles during her 30 years of ministry, especially in Mozambique, where she and her husband, Rolland, have planted more than 7,000 “bush churches,” five Bible schools and four children’s feeding centers since 1990.

 Just days before she arrived in Cincinnati, Baker prayed for two blind beggars who wandered into her tent meeting at her base in Pemba, Mozambique. Both men instantly received their sight after Baker wet her fingers with saliva and touched their eyes.

 Such astounding miracles are common to Heidi and Rolland. They have seen God supernaturally multiply rice and chili to feed hungry orphans. Heidi has watched paralytics walk for the first time after they received prayer. And indigenous pastors the Bakers trained in Mozambique have raised 53 people from the dead so far.

 But Heidi Baker does not carry herself like a celebrity evangelist. She does not wear designer clothes or arrive at conferences in limousines. She does not wave her hand over audiences, throw her coat on people or mail slick magazines with photographs of her standing in front of crowds of Africans.

 When it is time to minister to the sick, she often calls her trained team to do most of the praying. Sometimes she asks children to pray for the crippled and dying.

 She knows that ministry is not about her.

 “It is a privilege beyond price to see the joy and affection of the Holy Spirit poured out like a waterfall on people who have known so much severe hardship, disappointment and bitter loneliness in their lives,” Baker wrote recently in her online ministry report.

 “From the freezing cold gypsy huts of eastern Bulgaria to the 115 degree heat of Sudanese refugee camps, from the isolated native Inuits of arctic Canada to the dirt-poor subsistence farmers along the Zambezi River, we see ravenous desire for God among the poor and lowly. Jesus knows their suffering, and He will make it up to them. He will be their God, and they will be His people. He will use them to shame the wise and make the world jealous of their wealth toward Him.”

 At the Cincinnati conference, which was sponsored by charismatic ministers James and Michal Ann Goll, Baker rebuked the American church in her sweet and disarming way. Because she lives “in the dirt” among the poorest people in Africa, she says, God has taught her principles from the Bible that sophisticated Western Christians struggle to understand.

 “God wants to tweak some things” in the Western church, she said, noting that we place too much importance on position, intellect and human ability.

 She then demonstrated the solution to our dilemma by kneeling on the floor again. “God wants laid-down love,” Baker said. Hundreds of people—myself included—put our faces in the carpet and asked for the humble heart of Jesus to wreck our pride.

 Being with Heidi Baker last weekend helped me reorder my priorities. I was reminded that ministry is not about visibility; it is about serving in secret. Ministry is not about giving people a slick, culturally relevant presentation; it is about offending the mind to reach the heart. Ministry is not about making rich Christians feel good about themselves; it is about seeing the face of Jesus in the face of a starving, AIDS-infected child.

 Baker’s message made me uncomfortable, but the squirming was all worth it. I’ve decided I want to go lower—into a place of humility where the presence and power of God can be known.

 I hope all of us will take that plunge.

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

Joh 6:1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27 Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven

33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

48 I am that bread of life.

49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers dideat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.

59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?

61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

EMERGENCY PRAYER & ACTION REQUEST

08/10/2006: Emergency Flood Request

GFA Missionaries Respond to Massive Indian Floods

Flooding "When I heard about it, I was just numb," said Dr. K.P. Yohannan, president and founder of Gospel for Asia, reporting on the monsoon floods that have inundated western India and left more than 1,000 people dead and millions homeless.

"There is a monsoon every year," he explained, "but never in history has there been one of this magnitude."

The floods have been so extensive that a major natural gas plant has been shut down, and people are dying from waterborne diseases. The BBC has reported that 66 people in the state of Maharashtra have died from disease, including 37 in Mumbai (Bombay).

A state medical official said 11 died of leptospirosis in last year's flooding, far below the number already recorded after just one week of this year's rising waters. Most of the victims are in slums, where the floods bring sewage into the homes.

The plant that was shut down supplies two-thirds of all natural gas used by domestic consumers in India.

The floods have also affected Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat states.

In Gujarat, thousands of people have been evacuated from the city of Surat, while in neighboring Maharashtra, thousands more have been left homeless. The floods have also forced the evacuation of villages in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, while hundreds of other communities are still marooned by high water. A major highway from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra wasflooded, stranding dozens of vehicles.

Dr. Yohannan is currently in India, receiving first-hand reports from GFA area leaders on a daily basis. Their personal observations provide a deeper look into the situation than statistics alone can convey.

"Brother Lalachen, one of our leaders, said there are stranded people who have not eaten for days," he reported. "But he also said that people are not only weeping over the loss of their homes and crops, but that they are now in total despair. They have nothing.

"The Dalits, the backward castes, live in mud houses and huts—they are the ones who suffer. And what about the beggars with no hands or legs? How can they survive?"

"We have talked to our people in Bombay, Maharashtra, and they reported that it rained nonstop for five or six days," Dr. Yohannan added. "In that state alone, there are some 300,000 homeless and 8,500 villages under water.

"In Andhra Pradesh nearly 7,000 villages have been affected, making nearly 2 million people homeless. It is also estimated that more than 150 died in that state.

"Gujarat is one of the worst-hit states. In the city of Surat, you have more than 400 dead, 6 million homeless, phone lines are gone and 270 villages are completely cut off."

But in the midst of the tragedy, Gospel for Asia Compassion Services workers are already on the scene.

"Our people have already started doing what relief we can," Dr. Yohannan pointed out. "Remember that even though they are also suffering, our missionaries and workers are getting through with food and other physical help for the victims."

Yet GFA's help goes far beyond immediate physical relief.

"As always, this is an opportunity to show the compassion and love of Christ," Dr. Yohannan said. "It is a time to pray for them, counsel with them, and help meet their spiritual as well as physical needs.

"Please pray for the victims and for our missionaries. And please help us as we help them. Any help you can give will be appreciated. We are going to do everything we can to bring relief and hope to these suffering people—not just for a few days, but for weeks and months to come."
